information container

An information container is a named collection of information accessible within a file, system, or application storage hierarchy. These containers provide grouped management for the professional production and analysis of information. Examples include subdirectories and information files such as models, documents, tables, and schedules. They can also contain unique subsets of an information file such as chapters, sections, levels, or symbols.
