BIM Glossary

ISO 19650

DIN EN ISO 19650 "Organization and digitization of information on construction works and engineering services, including building information modeling (BIM) - Information management with BIM - Part 1: Terms and principles" is an international standard that regulates information management in the construction industry. It was developed from the older PAS 1192 standard and contributes to international standardization with an information flow throughout the entire life cycle of a construction project.

The standard ensures that important information is captured and provided in a consistent format. This can significantly improve efficiency, quality and collaboration in the construction industry, thus enabling Interoperability.

A key aspect of ISO 19650 is the focus on Building Information Modeling (BIM), as it specifically defines, for example, the BAP - BIM execution plan and the associated AIA - Client Information Requirements (AIA). Common Data Environment (CDE) and the resulting Information containerstates are also described in more detail in this standard.
